Northern Vegan Festival 2016
In collaboration with Viva!
Since 1994, Viva! has been campaigning to end the suffering of farmed animals. Viva! is positively vegan and helps people reduce their meat, fish, dairy and egg intake and move towards a kind, compassionate, healthy diet. We believe that every step towards being vegan is a positive one.
Viva! Vegan Festivals were born out of the wish to equip people with all the info they need to change themselves or to bring about change in others. Our shows provide all the information anyone could ever want about going, being and staying vegan – or moving in that direction. We show people first-hand how animals are suffering in appalling conditions; how consuming animals is the biggest cause of environmental pollution and global warming; and how healthy and delicious a vegan diet actually is!
Thinking about going vegan, but not sure how to go about it? Worried about Vitamin B12? Our Viva!Health experts are at hand to answer all your questions and address your concerns. We have a host of handyresources: fully-referenced fact sheets and scientific reports; guides on everything from heart health to defeating diabetes; convenient wallcharts of veggie nutrients and much more.
Come along to one of our talks at the festivals. Find out, for example,Why You Don’t Need Dairy or how you can improve your mood with a plant-based diet.
Afraid being vegan is only about lettuce and tofu? We want to show you just how full of pleasure a compassionate lifestyle can be!
What do vegans eat? Come to one of our cookery demonstrations at the festivals and find out. Our foodie experts will show you how to whip up quick & easy healthy meals. Plus, we literally have hundreds of delicious recipes online in our Vegan Recipe Club.
Our 30 Day Vegan program can help you give it a go and will provide you with tasty, healthy meal plans, nutritional advice and even vegan celebrity inspiration.
Scared of not being able to go out to dinner anymore? We’ve got you covered there, too. There are so many vegan-friendly places to eat in the UK. Check out our new interactive directory My Vegan Town to find out where you can grab a veggie bite to eat near you.
You won’t have to abstain from chocolate, either! Come to our festival merchandise stalls or visit our Viva! Shop online. All of the products we offer – from gourmet ganache truffles and delectable dark nougat chocolate to our artist-designed CompassionaTEES – are suitable for vegans and kind to animals, people and the planet! Plus, when you buy from the Viva! Shop, you are supporting our life-saving campaigns to end factory farming and animal suffering.
Every year in Britain, more than one billion animals face the barbarity of slaughter - many fully conscious. Most spend their short, brutal lives in confinement, pain and misery. Through our solid research, undercover investigations and professional media skills, we are bringing the reality of modern farming into people’s homes. We have enlightened millions, shocked most and changed the diets of many. Come have a chat with us at our festival stalls to find out more about our latest campaigns.
And remember – the best way to protect animals is to stop eating them!
Did you know that animal agriculture is one of the biggest causes of global warming, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, desertification and water pollution? Why is this so little talked about? We want to raise awareness about the detrimental effects eating animals has on the environment. Come along to one of our talks and find out how you have the power to save the planet with your knife and fork!
“The most powerful action you can take to end animal suffering, improve your health, protect the environment and bring fairness to the world’s poor is to stop eating meat, dairy, eggs and fish. Support us and help Viva! campaign for a better world.”
– Juliet Gellatley, Founder & Director of Viva!
